Closure beatification Jerome Lejeune, Notre Dame de Paris

A wonderful stape

On Wednesday 11th April 2012 at Notre-Dame de Paris, the Paris diocese celebrates the conclusion of the diocesan enquiry  for the cause of beatification and canonisation of Jérôme Lejeune, four and a half years after its opening,  on 28th June 2007.

RP Jean-Charles Nault, postulator of the Cause and Abbot of Saint-Wandrille, explains : « This stage is very  important  because it marks the end of an immense labour.    At this point the Church has not so far pronounced on the holiness of the Servant of God.    It will do so at the conclusion of a lengthy period of study of all the documents which have been collected during the diocesan inquiry and will be sent to the Congregation for the Cause of Saints at Rome after the session of closure for the diocesan process.»

The ceremony of closure is presided over by Mgr Eric de Moulins-Beaufort, auxiliary bishop of Paris, delegated by Cardinal Vingt-Trois for the occasion. In the course of this closure session, the boxes containing all the information collected during the inquiry are solemnly sealed up.

Editorial by Mme Mayté Varaut,

President of the Association of Friends of Professor Jérôme Lejeune

"The zeal manifested by all has been most impressive.

Many testimonials of prayer for the beatification of  Jérôme Lejeune have reached us from the world at large,  sent by families who had met him, as well as by a new generation of young people pledged to the service of Life, and also by scholars happy to demonstrate that there is no contradiction between the Faith and natural science.

Our wish is that the testimony of Jérôme Lejeune leads to fresh vocations, Christians ready and willing to be servants of Life,   with intelligence, courage and fidelity,   for the true good of Man and of Humanity. "
