The Association of Friends of Professor Jérôme Lejeune was created in 1994, the year in which the Professor died, in order to make known his work and his discoveries, particularly in genetics, and to publish and disseminate the collection of texts, writings, and lectures which he left behind; and also to continue his work for the defence of human life from its very first moment in time to its very last.

The Association itself gave rise in 1996 to the Jérôme Lejeune Foundation for research to find methods of treatment and cure of genetic diseases of the intelligence, for treating patients so afflicted, and for defending the dignity of each and every human life.

Nowadays the Association pursues its objective of making known the life and work of Jérôme Lejeune: and since 28th June 2007 it has been furthering the Cause of beatification and canonization of the Servant of God Jérôme Lejeune.

The Association is headed by :

  • Madame Mayté Varaut, President
  • Docteur Henri Lafont, vice-President.
